...Is a 'small big band', consisting of one trumpet, one trombone, one alto saxophone (doubling clarinet), one baritone saxophone (doubling clarinet and tenor saxophone), piano, bass, drum, and vocalist. Bob leads the band and plays clarinet and tenor saxophone. Sometimes, a guitarist is added, for a total of ten musicians.
With this group, Bob played in the Rainbow Room, Roseland, and many hotels and small nightclubs, weddings, and parties attended by from one hundred to five hundred persons. Bob loves the process of orchestrating for new groups of musicians, assembling and rehearsing the individual musicians, and creating music for new and different occasions.
Depending on your event, the extensive repertoire will range from big band hits (1920's to 1950's - including both the blockbusters and rarities) to Chuck Berry, leaning to danceable and sophisticated fox-trots and cha-chas. This group plays 'The Continental', 'Begin the Beguine' and 'Mambo Jambo', in the style we developed in the Rainbow Room. Or 'The Joint is Jumpin', 'Skyliner', 'Don't Be That Way', and 'Sing Sing Sing', as Bob did at the Swing Dancers' Convention... or 'New York New York', 'Strike Up the Band', and 'Stars and Stripes Forever', as they did at Madison Square Garden.
Perhaps you doubt that this style of entertainment is still available or question that you could engage such a band for YOUR Wedding. Well, you can! In addition, we have performed at Madison Square Garden, the United Nations, and the New York Met's Shea Stadium.
